and closes the Monday before the Halloween weekend.
Reservations for the 2013 season can be made beginning March 4th.

About Shelter Island

Shelter Island is just 2 hours from New York City, and a ferry boat ride away from CT. It is a paradise of an island nestled between the two forks on the east end of Long Island. We have a superb location directly on Dering Harbor and are within a five minute walking distance to main village where you will find shops, markets, restaurants/bars. The nearest public beach is approximately a mile away. We sell beach passes in season, and have a limited number of bicycles to rent. The island is a place to come to for relaxation, and to take in its unique natural beauty, in places such as the Mashomack Wildlife Perserve, which occupies over one third of the island. Kayaks are available to rent and also can be delivered right to the inn.

The island is particularly noted for its outdoor activities, such as: golf, boating, fishing, tennis, biking, hiking, jogging, swimming. Discounts are available to guests for classes held at the Shelter Island Yoga & Fitness Center located (operated and owned separately) on premises. It is close to the North ferry which leaves from Greenport. Taxi service is available, boats can be chartered out of Greenport. It is a 20 minute ride to the ocean. Vintage tours from the local LI wineries are available. We offer custom packages for business meetings, and are particularly suited for small conferences. We are open to catered events. In the off-season, stay 2 nights and the 3rd night is free. Weekly, monthly, and season rates are available.
